Writing for success

I am a dual language educator with 13 years of teaching experience in Dual Language, Late Exit Bilingual, English Immersion, and a Newcomer Program. Working with bilingual students in Russia, Mexico, and the U.S. has given me a unique perspective on effective teaching practices that promote language acquisition. I am passionate about helping each of my students succeed by inspiring them to develop their unique talents and reach their potential. Over the last several years, I have had a privilege to mentor student teachers, lead my colleagues in professional development sessions, and present at SAAABE and La Cosecha Conferences. My focus has been equipping educators to implement the writing process within their dual language framework while helping their students develop biliteracy.​​

With 18 years of experience in bilingual education, I have effectively implemented various bilingual models, including early and late exits, dual language, and providing support to ESL students in secondary settings. This diverse experience has equipped me with the skills to adapt to various educational settings. I am deeply passionate about working with students in a dual-language setting. Over the past seven years, I have guided student teachers/residents from the University of Texas in San Antonio for an entire academic year, a task that I find incredibly fulfilling. Recently, my main focus has been on delivering presentations at conferences and offering training to educators on incorporating the writing process for bilingual students in a dual language program in Texas, demonstrating my ability to communicate and share knowledge with diverse audiences effectively.
